The Logistics & Industrial division, Energem International Ltd, comprises the rationalized businesses and logistics platform obtained through the acquisition of the Otterbea group of companies in 2002/3. It incorporates an extensive logistics and supply infrastructure for all the group’s operations, including ethanol and bitumen production facilities.

STRUCTURE

Through a number of subsidiary companies, we also specialise in the procurement, and supply logistics of products for the mining and energy sectors in Africa. We have warehousing and other support infrastructure in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Kenya. More recently we provided the procurement and logistics infrastructure necessary for the re-establishment of the Koidu diamond mine in Sierra Leone and the construction of oil storage and distribution facilities in Nigeria & Malawi. The division also owns and manages a bitumen emulsions manufacturing factory in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Currently the Logistics and Industrial Division employs 148 staff.

Bitument Emulsion Plant
The plant in Zimbabwe, operational since 1993, provides the platform for supplies of bitumen to various Sub-Saharan African countries.

Energem International Ltd brings an extensive procurement, logistics and supply infrastructure to the group’s operations with over 40 years of experience in Africa We have established offices and representation in Zambia, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Malawi, DRC and South Africa. Activities with which we are involved include:-

• Warehousing, procurement, logistics and supply to the mining and oil industries in sub-Saharan & West Africa
• Supplier of liquid fuels to Katanga and Kasai provinces (DRC copper belt)
• Supported the construction of the Koidu Kimberlite Mine, Sierra Leone for Mining Division
• Providing logistics support & infrastructural set up e.g. in Kenya, Malawi, Sao Tomé and Nigeria for mid-stream oil division
• Re-establishment of mining development infrastructure in the Central African Republic underway
  Supply, install and commissioning of all technology components for a new radio station in Mombassa.
• Supported commissioning of Kisumu ethanol plant
